  The ice cream is absolutely top-notch. I discovered Sweet Pea's a year or so ago and it's become my favorite neighborhood dessert joint. The atmosphere is quirky as is the owner. Sort of feels like you've walked into his cluttered 1960's basement complete with a black and white TV where you might find a Lassie or I Love Lucy rerun playing and suddenly discovered that, along with the remnants of a train set and a bunch of stuffed animals, he operates a delicious ice cream bar along one wall. Seriously, the ice cream is AWESOME. Quick story: last summer, I watched a very senior gentleman order a giant banana split and eat every bite. Seeing the simple pleasure on his face was a treat in itself.
  I stick to simpler potions. For instance, the chocolate-marshmallow, the peach, the fudge, the . . .well, you get the idea. Sweet Pea's (his daughter's nickname) is worth a visit and, I suspect, you will return. Okay, even the pistachio is good. And the plain old vanilla...

  This place is the absolute worst! Everytime we go on vacation we like to visit a local ice cream shop with our kids, and we've never been disappointed, until today. First, the empty run-down place smells really musty, almost like mold is coming out of the vents. Second, the owner is an old disgruntled man who decided to scream at my pregnant wife after she placed her order. After we were basically kicked out of the place, we noticed that the ice cream was old and tasted like freezer-burn. Dissatisfaction all around! I thought ice cream parlors were suppose to bring joy? There is nothing sweet about Sweet Pea's ice cream. We would have been better off going to Coldstone or Dairy Queen. Moral of the story, avoid this place at all costs.
